How might we assist companies in gaining greater visibility into their SaaS subscriptions and streamlining the management of their licenses?

Company background

CloudKontrol is an enterprise tool which gathers SaaS subscriptions in one platform. Its goal is to help companies manage licences and negotiate deals more effectively. It allows companies to have better visibility on their spending and provides insights for budget planning.

The situation

As a product design lead, I shaped the service proposition, designed and helped build the MVP. This allowed us to validate the concept with a first set of users, as well as help the commercial team communicate the value of the product to potential customers. 

Key objectives

1. Find an intuitive IA and navigation informed by the IT managers working process.

2. Create interfaces helping to visualise large databases.

3. Propose a contemporary visual design language.

The design process

Information Architecture

We tried to get as close as possible from the IT managers working process and mindset - building a structure around the following logic: Organize, Transact, Manage, Visualize. Mindful of the limited development budget, we focused on a limited number of features and rationalised the number of templates to support the engineering team in working more efficiently. 

Wireframing

We created high fidelity wireframes and a working prototype focusing on core functionalities, prioritization of content, filter mechanism and data presentation.

UI Design

Results

The product gained the first set of users by word of mouth in the first few months. Thus, the MVP allowed the commercial team to advocate the value of the product to IT managers and potential clients.
