LEGAL | MVP | WINTER 2019 YC APPLICATION
How might we help individuals assess their prospects for obtaining a US Visa based on their backgrounds and individual objectives?
Project background
‘Possible’ evaluates users’ chances to obtain a US VISA based on their backgrounds and personal goals. The goal is to make the process simple, jargon-free, and accessible for all. It's much easier than trying to make sense of the information online yourself. It's cheaper and less intimidating than contacting lawyers. Ultimately, the mission is to empower freedom of movement with a simple visa process.
The situation
The project aimed to put together a mobile-first MVP as a submission to Y Combinator, a start-up incubator in Mountain View, CA.
Key objectives
Build an accurate understanding and database.
Build an effective decision tree system, finding the smallest set of questions.
Make this complex subject as accessible as possible (step by step journey/jargon-free/mobile-first).
Differentiate positive and negative results and highlight probabilities.
Build a light-weight and easy to implement design system.
The design process
Decision tree system
The company's promise is based on the decision tree system that helps match users’ backgrounds with the VISA requirements. To achieve this, we collected information from reliable sources, interviewed immigration lawyers, and designed a set of questions to give an accurate evaluation. The objective is to use the smallest set of questions.
